Local Bookshops

Clapham Books

26 The Pavement, London SW4 0JA, UK – 020 7627 2797

Cute, nice atmosphere. Small, but that doesn't matter much as I can spend hours here (and I have). I really enjoy the books available as it's a unique and eclectic collection. From Swedish interior design to world history to quirky colouring books, there's something for everyone, even the kids.

Lovely independent bookshop...great selection of books with good layout. Nice staff too. Also a small collection of nice art cards.

Tales on Moon Lane

25 Half Moon Ln, Herne Hill, London SE24 9JU, UK – 020 7274 5759

I was really struggling with finding some good books for my 6 year old to read so I popped in to Tales on Moon Lane for some advice. The assistant was very knowledgeable and suggested 9 books. I only intended to buy 1 but bought all 9 (as a birthday present) as they all sounded excellent. And my daughter has loved them all. Highly recommend.

This is a great place to buy children's books. My sons love it here and can spend a long time picking what books are to come home with us. The school holiday events are also good and help bring books alive

Rye Books

47 N Cross Rd, East Dulwich, London SE22 9ET, UK – 020 3581 1850

A really nice bookstore in Dulwich, staffed by friendly people who go above and beyond to help. Asked for a book, and was helped straight away in finding it - even though they didn't have it in stock, they ordered it for me and it was there within 24 hours. The store itself is really nicely laid out and has the feel of a shop owned by book lovers. They have a good selection of cards too, it's my first port of call whenever a birthday is approaching.

New shop has a Good coffee shop and very good on travel books .The shelving is very good .right height for the books.. Disappointed shelves are not labeled , hard to workout and find catergories..Book shelves are missing some of the classics and best selling authors and titles.
